If Paris is killing your budget but you’re still partial to some great restaurant fare, then prix fixe menus are your friend. TBS and I were able to indulge in a 3 course lunch at Bertrand Grebaut’s Septime for a mere €28 each. To be able to dine at a restaurant that was ranked number 49 in 2013 by the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards is pretty good I dare say (Septime dropped to number 52 in the 2014 awards).
The food was fresh and modern and the restaurant lively and young. We ate delicate veal tartare and sweet mandarin, lamb belly and raw mushrooms, pork belly with bitter, tender radicchio and a sweet but tart deconstructed apple dessert.
A welcome change from the traditional, heavier French fare we had been indulging in. Get there if you can!
Good to know:
Lunch 3 courses €28 or 5 course carte blanche menu €55
Dinner 5 courses €55

We spent a month in Paris in 2012. The (then 26€) lunch we had at Septime was the best meal we had there.
I’m not surprised! We loved how a lot of the dishes were much lighter and fresher than what we were finding elsewhere. Such a gem.
