The burger, fries and shake trifecta is difficult to resist. So when On It Burgers opened up a mere 5 minute walk from home and we heard that they had 16 shake flavours including toasted marshmallow, green tea, pistachio and lychee (I know right?!) we were there in a heartbeat.
Victoria Street has been crying out for a burger joint- sometimes pho just isn’t going to hit the spot- and On It delivers the goods. The menu includes classic grass fed beef burgers, a spicy or smoky chicken burger and there’s also an appealing soft shell crab and sriracha number. House made onion rings, fries, shakes and a number of beers complete the menu.
We both opt for beef burgers- the Smash Hit which can be ordered with a single or double patty features a crispy smashed patty, American cheese, pickles, white onion, ketchup, mustard, mayo and lettuce and the Hero with beef, American cheese, red onion, pickles and tangy hero sauce. Are they good? Yes. Soft buns, gooey cheese, perfect meat to salad ratio and just the right amount of sauce per burger. The tangy white onion is a nice touch too.
We’re told the garlic and basil fries are the house favourite and how right they are. Lightly seasoned, slightly soft but still retaining the crisp and crunchy factor.
We slurp down a gingerbread and a pear shake. The shakes are both thick and creamy with the gingerbread being the winner out of the two. The pear is quite subtle in flavour (although that is to be expected) and makes less of an impact.
The dining area revolves around the bar with both booth and table seating and the staff are super friendly and eager to please. With at least another 14 shakes and a raft of other burgers to sample, it’s a sure bet that we’ll be returning.
